Giving Your Garage Doors The Makeover They Deserve

One day, when I was pulling up to my house, I realized that my garage doors were absolutely hideous. They had unsightly, chipped paint, and I knew that I needed to change them. I looked into replacing the door, but it was just too expensive. Instead of trying to replace them, I realized that it might be a good idea to think about painting them. I headed to the hardware store, picked up some durable-looking paint, and then rented a paint sprayer. After I masked off the area and painted the entire door, it made my house look a lot better. This blog is all about giving your home the TLC it deserves.

Unique Things To Do With The Wooden Garage Door You Just Replaced

If you have just replaced a wooden garage door, before you throw it out with the trash, you will want to consider putting it to good use. After all, why let it go to some landfill when you can still get some good use out of it? To help get your creative juices flowing, you will want to take a little bit of time to scroll through the following ideas.

Make An Overly Large Headboard For Your Bed

Do you want the headboard for your bed to be large, luxurious, and really make an impact? If so, you may want to think about using the old wooden garage for it. You may have to cut the door down a little in order to fit it through the doors of your home. However, you can always piece it back together once you have it behind your bed. You can paint it, add fabric and padding to it, or embellish it with gems that you find at a local craft store. No matter what you do with it, you need to make sure that you are properly securing it to the wall behind your bed. After all, the wooden garage door that is now your headboard is most likely extremely heavy. You do not want that falling down on you in the middle of the night. Do not make the mistake of assuming that the weight of your bed will be enough to hold it up.

Make Targets For Paintball Practice

If you love to play paintball and you have a little bit of land that allows you to practice your skills, then you may want to think about turning your wooden garage door into targets for practice. You can leave the garage door in one solid piece and spray paint several targets all over the door, some small and some large. Then again, you could cut the wooden door down into a variety of sizes and spread them out. Then, you have the chance to hit several different targets as you run around your property. You could make it a little more tricky for yourself by painting smaller targets on all of the individual boards. This will allow you to really hone in on your targeting skills.

With just those two ideas in mind, you should have a much easier time thinking about something fantastic that can be done with that old wooden garage door.
